“What lies behind us and what lies ahead of us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”

The Ralph Waldo Emerson quote has always been a favorite of mine, and it popped into my head almost immediately when I began creating this personal blog.  The photo above was taken at Lewes Beach on the Delaware Bay, on one of my morning bike rides.  For me personally, the image speaks to “what lies within us,” and seemed the perfect complement  for a blog about reinventing oneself.  (See “About” for more specifics).

Whatever happened in the past, and whatever the future holds–is no match for the here and now.   Which is why, almost two years ago, my husband and I made a life-changing decision and retired to Lewes, Delaware with our “reinvented” rescue dog.

The First Town in the First State, Lewes is the perfect place for relaxation and rejuvenation, one of the reasons so many people choose to retire here (that and the low taxes!).  As a young retiree, I’m finding that Lewes offers plenty of opportunities for reinventuring: culinary, cultural, social, and recreational experiences, all against a scenic backdrop of beautiful beaches, meandering bike trails, and Mother Nature at her finest.

Professional wordsmith, lifelong arts lover, and all-around beach bum, I enjoy dining out at area restaurants, biking the many trails, exploring the scenic landscapes, and living a laid-back life at the beach–all reflected in my photos.
