This is our constant dilemma living in Lewes:  we are minutes away from some really great restaurants, each one unique in its own way, depending upon your mood.  And there’s so much to choose from–and it’s all so good!!  So put those boneless chicken breasts thawing on the countertop back in the refrigerator for another night, and head downtown…..

Seared Tuna Wontons

Seared Tuna Wontons, a favorite appetizer at Striper Bites.

A Striper Bites staple, the SB salad. If you want to have a little fun, ask Todd the bartender what "SB" stands for: Sleeping Baby? Scorching Backhand? Sexy Bartender? It goes on and on....

Yes, we eat at SB a lot! This lobster mac and cheese is the best around, although it's been taken off the summer menu. Hope it's back in the fall!

A new SB menu item, crab spaghetti in marinara sauce, served with a wheel of parmesan and crostini. Very flavorful, and not a heavy pasta dish.

On to Kindle (one of SB's sister restaurants)....I would WALK the 3 miles from my house for their Fire Fries, encrusted with parmesan cheese (and jalapeno?), served with a roasted garlic mayo. I've never found them anywhere else.

You'll find this amazing dish at The Gatehouse. Each of these humongous scallops is perched atop its own bed of parmesan risotto. I enjoyed mine with a "side" of Ranga Ranga, GH's sauvignon blanc. If you're a carnivore, go for the GH burger--you won't be disappointed! But before you do, order a large appetizer portion of the fried Brussels sprouts for the whole table!

There’s lots more to share, but it’s dinner time, and this post has made me very hungry.  We’re cooking tonight: grilled pork chops, accompanied by grilled pineapple and mango with basmati rice…..oh, what was that, honey?  It’s Friday night, and you want to go out to eat?
