It’s been awhile since my last post in late September. October has come and gone, and it’s been a busy month–hence, the reason for the time lapse between posts.  The month started on the beach by the Delaware Bay…..

A beautiful autumn beach day–no wind, plenty of warm sunshine and just a handful of people.   Oh, and a pot-bellied pig…..

“Sexy” (that was her name!) came out to enjoy this glorious day and to wish me and my husband a happy anniversary which was a few days away, but we started the celebration early.

We ended the week in Old Town Alexandria, VA where we walked in the footsteps, literally, of some pretty cool guys.  For two days, we ate and drank our way up and down King Street…

Indulged ourselves at a great hotel (wanted to take these home with me)!

And on October 9th, our actual wedding anniversary, a lovely young passerby took this “portrait” of the happy couple, capping off our weekend.  We went home to Lewes and  cooler temperatures…

I made my first soup of the season, minestrone.

My husband baked his signature apple pie, which appears to be undergoing some type of “divine” intervention in the oven.  (It really WAS heavenly!).

In mid-October, we attended our first-ever “gender reveal” party.  Our nephew and his wife are expecting their first child in February, and decided to celebrate by sharing the gender news with family and close friends–the kicker was they found out the same time as everyone else.  It was very cool…by the way, it’s a boy!

The month ended with an annual Halloween dog parade on the boardwalk in nearby Rehoboth Beach.  This dude is all ready to explore the depths of the Atlantic Ocean.

You can make up your own caption for this one!   I know I feel blessed every day…and looking forward to the coming holidays which will be upon us in the blink of an eye!
